With tight government budgets and stiff competition for private and corporate foundation support, organizations have got to expand beyond the “let’s get a grant” mind set. In this workshop, you’ll establish a plan for building a steady, reliable funding stream from earned income in a way that’s compatible with your organization’s mission. During two energetic and invigorating days, you’ll: • Identify and assess an earned income opportunity • Conduct market research • Examine pricing strategies and operational plans • Conduct a financial analysis • Work with a small team to develop a mini-business plan • Learn how to develop, grow, and diversify an earned income program. Rolfe Larson, respected social enterprise authority, is the trainer. He holds an M.B.A. from Yale School of Management and is the author of Venture Forth! Rolfe’s book is recognized as the leading guide to business planning and social enterprise strategies for nonprofits and was endorsed by the late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman as “a clear, no-buts way to negotiate the minefields in the nonprofit world.” Rolfe has trained for The Grantsmanship Center since 2003. The Grantsmanship Center is a Los Angeles based organization that works nationally and internationally. It offers trainings for nonprofits on how to design programs, win grants, manage grants, and create earned income to supplement grants. It also provides publications and consulting services that build nonprofit capacity.
