DESCRIPTION:A bus tour of Northeast Denver and Park Hill parks and green\n\nspace's named after historical African Americans\n\n \n\nHosted by History Colorado and the Black American West Museum & Heritage Center\n\n \n\nAs the real estate "Color line" in Denver began to move so did African Americans. The early 1950's brought a flood of military personal and hundreds of support personal and their families to Northeast Denver\; which created a new migration of African American's past Downing St.\, then Franklin St.\, then York St. Once African American's moved past Colorado Blvd the Black migration in to Park Hill exploded. Up through the 1980's it is said that over 90% of all African American's that lived between Downing St\, Monaco Parkway\, 35th Ave to 26th Ave were college educated\, working in either the military\, social service\, education or the medial industry. \n\n \n\nThe Bus Tour Itinerary: \n\nThis tour starts at the Black American West Museum and stop at a series of neighborhood parks named after local Black historical figures \n\n9 am-10am a self guided tour of the Museum for attendees wishing to see the Museum\n\n10 am-12pm 1st leg of the bus tour leaves promptly from the Museum\n\n12 pm-1:30pm Lunch is on you.
