"Daisy Bates: First Lady of Little Rock" tells the story of her life and public support of the nine black students who registered to attend the all-white Central High School in Little Rock\, Arkansas. This culminated in a constitutional crisis   pitting a president against a governor and a community against itself. Complex\, unconventional\, and a largely forgotten heroine of the Civil Rights Movement   Daisy Bates reaped the rewards of instant fame\, but paid dearly for it.\nThe screening will be followed by a panel discussion that includes: Dr. Winston Grady-Willis (African and African American Studies Department Chair for Metropolitain State College of Denver)\, Lee Gash-Maxey (Co-Founder of Three Sistah's Film+Community)\, and Barbara Kelley (Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Affairs.)
