Founded in 1941\, the Club has operated continuously since that time to carry out its mission. Its first Debutante Ball was held in 1951 to honor outstanding young\, Black women who were not being recognized by other debutante balls. Such outstanding women as former Secretary of State Condolezza Rice\, bestselling author J.D. Mason\, and nationally known Denver physicians Dr. Terri Richardson and Dr. Renee Cousins\, have been Owl Club debutantes in the past\, and\, with over 1400 other former Debutantes\, serve as role models for current Debutantes.
